Pecluma aff. Filicula 'Tarapoto' Wild Ecotype  | (Actual Plant You'll Receive!)

Pecluma aff. filicula is a delicate and finely structured fern, likely epiphytic and occasionally rupicolous, belonging to the Polypodiaceae family. The use of “aff.” indicates that this specimen shows affinity with Pecluma filicula, although its identity has not been fully confirmed, suggesting it may represent a local form or a closely related taxon. This particular form comes from the San Martín region, in Tarapoto, Peru, an area of remarkable Amazonian biodiversity where warm, humid, and shaded conditions favor the development of ferns of exceptional botanical and ornamental value.

It features a short, slender, creeping rhizome covered with dark ovate-lanceolate to cordiform scales. From this rhizome arise small and elegant fronds, generally linear to elliptic-lanceolate in shape, with a very refined silhouette. In P. filicula, the fronds typically measure approximately 7–20 cm long, with dark chestnut to reddish-brown petioles and a pinnatisect lamina divided into numerous narrow, linear segments. These segments, which may reach up to 50 pairs, are arranged regularly along the rachis, giving the fern a very orderly, light, and feathery appearance.

This graceful structure, combined with its tendency to grow on trunks, branches, or mossy surfaces, highlights its distinctly rainforest character. Overall, Pecluma aff. filicula stands out for its fine texture, feathery silhouette, and miniature appearance, qualities that make it especially attractive to collectors. Its origin from Tarapoto, San Martín, in the Peruvian Amazon adds strong geographic and ecological value, linking it to one of Peru’s richest and most lush ecosystems. It is also extremely rare in cultivation and is well suited for terrariums, where its delicate foliage and preference for humid conditions allow its exotic character and botanical beauty to be fully appreciated.
